What Do You Think About The Academy's Choices For Best Film?

The choices for best film have always been biased since the dawn of time. Jason Statham was asked what he thought about his career and his reply was that he knew he would never get an academy award for doing action movies. Action movies generally aren't considered "Culturally Significant" and therefore are unfairly snubbed along with comedy. In my opinion it should be whatever film was the best of the year, not films with acceptable content or cheesy tear jerkers. It is atrocious to me that the Dark Knight was thrown away. If Heath Ledger doesn't get some kind of an award for that movie there will be a full scale riot all over. I'm not just saying this because of Heath's death but the Dark Knight was the best film of 2008 and throwing it away just because it is an action movie and not even looking at how amazing it was is unacceptable to me. I love movies of all genres and years but I never watch academy awards or anything because back to 1930 with Gone with the Wind actor Clark Gable not getting anything I choose not to watch these biased and bullshit awards.

Not an ysis but I can say, he really seems to know a lot about details from the old days..I think the theme is the higher you go the further the fall.You really hear the old woman in the way he writes the poem, it isn't just about the sad decent into old age but the woman has completely fallen from grace, out of her social standing, into the seedy world of Secaucus, which of you knew it, is the stinkiest place you would ever want to smell or be in because the meadowlands has a gas smell like a pig farm. So there isn't a more low down place for a dive bar, which he paradoxically calls prominent. In effect the drunk lady is a lost soul who feels she is too good for the company she keeps, and she is telling them that by bragging about her glory days. The cheer at the end may be more for the guy calling the cops to take her away...to the drunk tank? I never saw a red police car so I wonder if that has a special meaning?

Strange organisms in my newt tank?

I am raising newts that are in the larvae stage right now. I expect some to die every once in a while. They can't all live. Today I saw an unusual amount of dead larvae in my tank! I got worried. Lately, these strange organisms have been appearing in the tank and I can't get rid of them just by doing a water change. They always reappear. They are tiny, the same size as the newt larvae, roundish with curved tails that propel them through the water. They are dark brown and there were LOTS of them today. Pre Seed!! Ive ordered some ladies, but how do I use it?

I used Pre Seed also. You only need to use it right before you BD. It's not like a pill you have to take every day in order for it to work. We didn't even use it how they recommended with the applicators and such that you have to insert in yourself. My suggestion is to stick with a piece like the jessica simpson hair that can clip in and stay put. the texture and oiliness of caucasian is not suitable for weaves that glue, sew in, etc. it wont last but for a couple of days before it starts slipping out. I know this for a fact.

My poor dog is sick and I'm confused?

I took my 12 lb Shi-tzu to the vet with a distended tummy and congestion. She had xrays and it showed her gallbladder was much larger than normal. It also showed her stomach had a lot of air in it. The vet took some blood and this is where it gets even more confusing...her blood work showed her cholesterol was high and her triglycerides were very high. The only definitive answer I got was that the air in her tummy was from her swallowing air - really!? She had no answer for the swollen gallbladder, the high cholesterol and the very high triglycerides. She's getting an ultrasound on Monday to get a closer look at her gallbladder and see what kind of treatment is going to be necessary. All this took place on Tuesday and as of today (Thursday), she is even more congested, will eat only a few bites of food, sleeps most of the time and when I pick her up, she moans and I know her tummy must be hurting her. I called the vet again today and was told to give her 12.5 mg. of Benadryl 3 times a day for the congestion. The vet gave her a prescription of Albuteral for I guess, her breathing. I gave her a couple of doses but it didn't seem to help and it made her shake so bad, I didn't want to add to her misery. I'm confused and don't know what to do next. She's my best friend and I think I'm hurting more than she is (I doubt that but you get the point). Any answers would be nice. Thank you - Alex

First you will have to accept this illness and do whatever the doctors and psychiatrist's have in plan for you, making sure you also are involved and in agreement with their prognosis. This illness is not one that will disappear, but you certainly can live a fulfilling and healthy life. My daughter also has this, called drug induced schizophrenia, which means she can not touch alcohol or drugs without having a severe paranoid/psychotic episode and today she is free from any side effects, living a normal life. She still takes medication and probably always will, but it is better than the alternative. We can only triumph over anything by acceptance, and taking care of ourselves to the best of our ability and having gratitude that treatment is available. I wish you much wellness and good mental health.

If you do have any pain that pops up and you miss work, or you have to get a rental car, make sure you are compensated for it as well. German Shepherds growth rates ?

Divorce in general can contribute to kids developing borderline personality disorder. Fear of abandonment lifelong is large part of borderline disorder. Divorce = abandonment.She is as stable as she gets while married to me. Divorce could institutionalize her. Thinking of kids, and me, a lot of suffering and infidelity has gone on secretly the bulk of our marriage. her mother was borderline and had MS. Misdiagnosed as depressed for s decade. She wsn truthful about cutting and suicide to her doc.

How pathetic of a finish was that from the Steelers?

That was honestly one of the saddest finishes I've seen from the Steelers in a long time. It was like the opposite of their Super Bowl finish. It was completely cowardly. They let a below average team destroy their suppodely great defense in the 4th grade. It looked so sad it look like they gave up and just let them score the two point conversion. I credit the Bengals for playing tough. But it'd be hard to believe there team is any good. People rave about Carson Palmer year in year out until he either gets hurt or the Bengals simply suck. If the Bengals go .500, it'd sadly be a successful season. If the Steelers were any other team, they might not feel so bad. But they've won 2 Super Bowls in recent memory. HOG Chapters tend to have closed rides, for HOG members only. I used to belong to the local HOG chapter, but my lovely wife couldn't go because she doesn't ride an HD. Once a year the local HOG chapter has a charity run where they accept anyone. For the most part the HOG folks are great people. My wife and I know lots and lots of HD riders, from all walks of life (including 1%ers) and while a lot of them tease non-HD riders none of them are serious about it. If they are, they aren't worth your time - move on.

How do I make my feet not smell?

I have horrible smell to my feet I mean no over saying it or exaggerating this smells exactly like someone poured a cup of ammonia in my boot I wash my feet daily and put clean socks on and wrap your head around this I put on a BRANd new pair of socks and by the time the 10 hour day is over there are two big holes in each sock one at the heal and one at the tip of my foot on each side its not a cut or rip it looks like my feet burned through the sock no lie its that bad how can I fix this? This past Thursday I left my husband because he was being obnoxious and disrespectful. I still can't believe that I actually put him out. Ok I made arrangements to pay a payday loan bill collector. I really did not come up with the payments he did. Well I could not pay the payments he wanted so I paid like 50 dollars a pay check. he called me at work twice and I told him to stop. I gave him my cell no. he called me on that and I told him that I would pay him 50 untill I paid it off, and he told me to go and make some more payday loans so i could pay this cause it was a hot check, and i would be taken to court, and all. I have researched this and I thold him that It was not a bad check and that it was just like a loan, and that he would take tha 50 bucks a paycheck and that was all I could pay. I also told him to stop telling me that I could be prsecuted for bad check casue that was a crock. He is trying to get me to pay the enitre amount all in once amount. Once upon a time I was bubbliy and happy. Then I got married and then after 3 years he fell out of love with me a; then I had a 10 year on and off romance. Then I met "Mr. Right" dated for 3 years got married, now married for over 4. We've had our normal relationship problems and we've gone to counseling. i've NEVER caught him cheating but have caught him in a multitude of lies. Twice in the past year he has told me that he may want to be single again. He's never been married or in a longterm relationship...so he says that he doesn't want to take the "easy way out" and make the marriage work. I have to tell you; it's very difficult for me to not turn cynical and bitter and jaded. I can feel it coming on and I don't want to give in to it - I know it's self destructive. the easiest way is to reverse the swing... that is to say, if standing outside and the door knob is on the left you make the screen door knob on the right. the problem is now the purists don't like the having to open the screen fully before you can open the door. Why am I afraid of ?

All my life (well, since I've been in school, anyways), people (aka teachers, etc) have told me all these bad things about teenage . The usual stuff- unwanted pregnancies, STDs, emotional and physical distress, 'hit and run' boys, all that stuff. So I guess they've sort of scared me into not having . But while I guess that can be a good thing, it has made me genuinely afraid to have . Like, my subconcious feelings about not having are stronger than me wanting to have (with my boyfriend, obviously). He's the first guy I've ever actually wanted to have sex with. I'm also afraid that I will never get over it, and be afraid of sex for life. So I want to know, is it alright for teenagers to have sex, I mean, what really are the statistical risks of getting pregnant or STDs. It seems like almost everyone I know is having sex and as far as I know, none of them have gotten pregnant or infected. How effective is condom use/birth control anyways, are there other methods, and how can I get over this fear of having sex? Is there a scientific name for that? I'm 16, by the way, and my parents never gave me 'the talk' so I've always been really confused about this kind of stuff, and it makes me seem innocent and prude...any words of wisdom, advice, etc? Need help/advice: is this neglect or child abuse? Please read!!!?

I am concerned that my 18 month old nephew has been/is being neglected or abused. I recently saw a video on my brother-in-laws Facebook profile, of my nephew being pushed by his mother, on a small sit on push toy (you know the kind the kids pushes with their feet to scoot around on) toward a gl paned door and he hits his head against the gl door and immediately starts crying. Again, the mother was the one pushing him toward the door. Does this seem like neglegence or abuse to you? Would CPS consider this to be abusive? Would CPS investigate a case like this? I was extremely shaken and upset when I watched it and immediately called my husband and told him about it. He called his brother and told him that he shouldn't be putting stuff like that up on Facebook. My brother in law said that it was an accident, that they don't see what was wrong with them uploading it onto Facebook, that they thought it was funny, that they were planning on sending it into America's Funniest Home Videos, and then asked my husband...."is that not okay? should we not do that?", said that the baby loved doing that and thinks it is fun, and that he usually puts his feet down to stop himself, and that was the only time that he didn't and just happened to hit the window. In addition, there is a picture on my brother in laws Facebook profile from about 2 weeks ago, of the 18 months old's face, with a left black eye, a sc on the left side of his nose, a cut on his brow on the left side, 2 bruses at the top left of his forehead, and another sc. My brother in law titled that picture "my son's first day of cagefighting". Someone else commented on that picture saying "WTF - what the f*=k" and my brother in law responded "ha ha...what?". In addition there is another picture from about a week ago of the 18 month old's face, with black stuff all around his mouth. My brother in law titled that picture "We just can't seem to keep him out of the ashes in the fireplace" My husband commented "um isn't that toxic or poisonious?" and my sister in law responded "I guess if you inhale it" then my brother in law commented and said "ha ha, no it's not ashes, its burnt bacon! He likes his bacon burnt?" My husband and myself have both told them that we didn't think that what they are doing is funny or okay, and they have continued to justify their behavior. In the process, my brother in law, his wife, and my mother in law, have all retaliated against my husband and I, saying that we are implying that they are child abusers and bad parents. They basically think that I am phycho for making any umption and am trying to create drama in the family and tear it apart. My husband is supporting me, but no one else in the family is, and are now directly attacking me (even though, none of them have actually seen the video) My husband and I were the only ones who saw the video before they deleted it from Facebook. I was smart enough to download the video prior to them deleting it, just in case. I really need ya'lls advice!!! I am stuck in a really bad position! I seriously think what they did is wrong, and am concerned that they are continuing to justify it, will not speak with me or my husband about it, and I have no real way of knowing if they are still doing that to him (pushing him toward the gl door). But at the same time, me taking a stand really hasn't brought any good, hasn't resolved anything, and is seriously impacting my current and future relationship with my own husband as well as the entire family! So, I really wanted to get some outsiders advice on if this was abusive or not, and if it is worth me continuing to pursue at any cost (even if it means my marriage ends in divorce) If they continue to justify, should I report them to CPS? Doesn't Society need to use a little Fairness?

Level the playing field so everyone has the same opportunities to succeed. Right now, it is completely unfair. If you think it is fair now you are probably are not aware of your advantageous position in life. I have definitely wanted to kill over it and if I am ever diagnosed with a short time to live, I may take a few with me.

My best friend and I don't like any of the same things?

To be honest, I'm not sure why we actually get along, but we do. The problem is, we're running out of things to talk about. I've tried out some of the things she's interested in. Like, I'll give the things she likes a try, but if I have to listen to one more Insane Clown Posse song or watch another moronic chick flick, I'm gonna snap. And she won't even give my interests a chance. I've invited her to watch glee or star wars with me and I've offered to lend her a My Chemical Romance CD, but she refuses everytime and even gets mad at me when I try to share my interests with her. Like, I won't even do anything, I just open up my laptop and she'll start flipping out about my "A Very Potter Musical" Wallpaper. I'm the type of person who likes to find new interests and won't knock it til I try it, but we just don't have very much in common...besides Bon Jovi. I mean, I know it's good to be differant, but I feel like there's just nothing to talk about now. We spend most of our time hanging out, on facebook (which I find extremely boring and pointless the majority of the time. I'll log on to check my notifications, but that only takes a few minutes), walking around the neighbourhood to see who we bump into (usually middle schoolers who try to hit on us), or even sometimes she talks on the phone to her boyfriend while I sit there blasting Flyleaf and reading whatever I found at the library that week. What do you think we should do? I've given the things she likes a chance and I don't like most of them. She won't even give mine a chance. Help!!!

Am I a conflicted heteroual?

I'm a 38 year old male with a wife & child. Recently I've begun to question whether I am conflicted to some extent with regards to my uality. I sincerely don't want to feed into any stereotypes, but please read this entire posting before jumping to conclusions. Why am i not losing any weight?

okay so i weigh 198 lbs, 5ft3 i've been eating around 1200-1500 calories a day and exercise for 50 Min's which include 30 Min's of cardio 20 Min's of weight lifting and 20 Min's of kickboxing exercises and im still not losing any weight. I've got 6 weeks to lose 14 lbs what am i doing wrong

I was hoping to download mp3's at 320 kbps, which is the quality I rip CD's at. I can actually hear a difference in quality from the songs I've ripped and 320, and the songs I've downloaded at a lesser quality. My boyfriend gave me an ultimatum that I don't think I can follow. What do I do?

For two years I have been battling this evil cat of his. After the cat attacked me and everyone else in the face, he still chose to keep the cat. I don't feel safe with this cat, even the vet said there was something wrong with this cat. It is dangerous and acts ferel. I have compromised with him by allowing him to keep the cat as long as it goes in the room when I go home. I don't feel safe with this cat ramdomly attacking. It is my right to not have this animal trying to rip out my eyes or slice any other part of my body. Last might he told me that I have two months to get over my fear of having the cat in the room with me or he would leave me. I am so hurt and I love him so much, so this is hard for me. I am sad and crying my self to sleep at night because of this. I don't know if I can have to courage to do what he wants. I would forever live in fear as long as the cat lives. I can't believe he would choose this dangerous animal over the safety and well being of myself and others. If I tell him no, I have no doubt he wouldn't even blink an eye about leaving, as long as he has his precious kitty. That is all he wants. I tried talking to him and he wont budge. This hurts so bad and I don't know if I can get over him if he leaves. We have been together for almost five years and I have grown to love his family very much. I love his nieces so much, as I have watch them grow up. This is so painfull. How do I deal with this?

One Last Romp....?

It happened to me one time. We wern't married, but together for years. DQ at MEPS and note about recruiter?

I went to MEPS this past week to join the Air Force. On my pre-screen, my recruiter told me to put "no" for having bronchitis unless I was hospitalized and "no" for mole removal surgery since I was so young. When I got to MEPS I put yes for both on the official form b/c I wasn't sure if I ever had bronchitis so I put yes to be safe. I also put yes to mole removal surgery b/c the MD noticed it right away anyway. She temporarily DQ'd me and told me to bring back medical records. I went down to Air Force office and the officer told me that I couldn't process any further. I wrote a letter, partly out of anger and to save my own that the recruiter had told me to put no for both instances and that I wanted to be honest about the medical history. My recruiter received the note and is not happy. He said now they are looking at it as a moral issue that I ratted him out and he is family and I'm an outsider. I have medical records for non-cancerous moles and a letter from my doctor stating I never had bronchitis. What are my chances of getting back up to MEPS? I have never done drugs nor have I been in any trouble. I also have a B.A. degree. Is my recruiter blowing this way out of proportion? He said he would try to take care of the situation. I just don't want something so trivial to ruin my career in the Air Force. Thanks to all who reply.

feeding and Pacifiers? Please Help??

My 10 day old baby girl has been exclusively fed since birth. The last four days she has taken to wanting to feed constantly. She will feed, the sleep for 10 or 15 minutes, wake up and want to be put on the again. However, the issue is, is that she doesn't always feed, a lot of the time she just wants something to suck on for a while and then falls asleep again. She will only have a few long sleeps in a 24 hour period and even these are only 2 hours at most. I know I am producing milk as I can easily express it by hand and I can tell when she is actually feeding. My main issue with this is that today I finally gave in and gave her a pacifier even though my midwife advised me not to. I am completely exhausted, my are raw and extremely painful from her constantly sucking on them and yet I still feel extremely guilty for giving her a pacifier. Did giving your baby a pacifier interrupt feeding or mess up your milk supply? I feel like I am failing her :(

On front wheel drive cars, approximately how long do the rear brakes last?

I have a 2004 Impala base that has 4 wheel disc brakes. I got the front brakes replaced at 71,400 miles (I got them at 47,800, they were not that bad, but over 50% worn so I just decided to replace them because my mechanic did charge too much, I did a lot of city driving). My REAR brakes were replaced at 47,800 and they have not been replaced since. My car currently has just over 80k on it. I know the rear brakes wear out a lot slower than the front's. How can you tell if you need new brakes (I have alloy wheels, so I can see the brakes)? On front wheel drive vehicles, how long do the rear brakes last or is it based on how you drive? Thanks

Would Adrian Peterson be the best running back ever without all the fumbles?

Best ever? I doubt he is the best in the game today. I'm not saying he isn't talented, he did lead in yards this past season (regular). However, he was 8 TDs behind D. Williams, 7 behind Michael Turner, and several he was 5 or less behind. Peterson also does not really command respect as far as receiving out of the back-field goes. He's not even top 25 RB in that category (receptions and yards). Now the most glaring of all, would have to be the 9 fumbles and loosing 4 of them. Honestly I would have to say that DeAngelo Williams (Total 20 TDs last season) is the best RB today. But give Peterson a few more years and things should change.

How do i live with this allergy?

I suffer from polymorphic light eruption or polymorpheus light eruption. It means i break out in mive red hives/patches all over my body (sparing my face and lower legs) when i go out in the sun as my skin reacts to the UV rays. When i last went on holiday i was on about 10 antihistamines a day, steroid cream and cortisone injections and it didnt help atall! I spent most of the holiday in hotel room in extreme discomfort and upset. I never used to have this, my skin builds up a resistance as i go through the summer but i cannot burn my skin or get too hot! Anyone know what i can do to stop this!!?

Its agood idea! when all the trees are cut down and all the habitats for the animals etc is destroyed, we can gather all the dead animals and make environmentally friendly purses and wallets , handbags and luggage cases from them too. Sounds like this could be the start. I was your age when I started and my first recollection was of a mild night sweat which occurred a couple of times but thought it just couldn't be. Had regular periods and suddenly they became a bit erratic. Sweats increased and the mood swings were absolutely awful. Incidentally, your GP can do a blood test which determins if you are menopausal. I fought against going on HRT and would have put up with the sweats but it was the mood swings and personality change I couldn't handle. I thought I was right and only after going on HRT I realised what I had been putting my family through. I am not saying HRT is right for everyone but I just came of it this New Year after 15 yrs. After about 5 months on it I suddently realised what a changed person I was and how much I was enjoying life. I did try to come off it 'cold turkey' a few years ago and after 6 months I was back to the 'old' me. This time I weaned myself off it and have had no problems. To be honest I just came off it as I had been on it so long but honestly could have continued with it for ever. I appreciate it is not the same for everyone but it certainly gave me a life I wasn't having. When reluctant to go on HRT I asked my Dr for his opinion and at the time I was appalled at his answer as he said "It may knock 10 years off your life but it's up to you. Do you want 20 good years or 30 bad ones?" . I now think this was the truest words every spoken. Don't just suffer these mood swings, it doesn't just spoil life for you but also for those closest to you.

As a kid I really wanted to be an artist, I was way ahead of my age with my drawing and creativity. when i got into middle school I realized that I couldn't make a living off that and no matter how good I got I could never be the next da vinci or michelangelo, so i started leaning toward archetecture. Honestly I am really good with math, its my strong suit. But in high school I did really bad in physics and only so-so in calc but I took Japanese got straight A's went to Japan and started to love the culture and everything about it so i knew i wanted to make it a part of my life. I have a recurring disease that keeps coming back. How do i get rid of it?

It's a constant congested nose. Every now and then it get extremely runny. It seems to get worse when I clean my nose with water, the snot factory starts to work overtime. Nasal drops only work for a day and then it's back to normal. And between every few weeks to every few months I get a fever and the flu for a couple days and then back to normal. Needing advice regarding PCOS/Medication, etc. please?

I am 27, have PCOS and my family doctor referred me to an OB/GYN. Blood was drawn to check my hormones. It was discovered that I have an elevated testosterone level of 3.2. I had already been on Metformin XR which helps with my PCOS but the OB/GYN prescribed Spironolactone and advised me to NOT get pregnant for three months. I am totally confused because the whole point of my going to the OB/GYN was to figure out what needs to be done so that I may get pregnant. Also, this doctor, while advising me NOT to get pregnant, has not prescribed any birth control for me, which I find odd. Anyway, I have since learned that this doctor is not even in my insurance network, so I won't be going back to her. Aunt Flo came a whole week early so the medication is obviously doing something but I just don't want any delays in TTC. My Husband is older, 55, and the family doctor sent him for semen ysis and he ped with flying colors. So "our" problem is really "my" problem. I have read that the Spironolactone can cause genital defects in boy babies...I don't know what else it can do. Should I just go off the Spironolactone? I am going to be going to another doctor, yes but meanwhile will it hurt me to go off that med? Also is it impossible to conceive when your testosterone level is elevated?
