I have a 95' manual ford probe and the gear shifter justs spins around in a circle not catching?

i just got a new clutch, master and slave cylinder put in and it drove fine for a few blocks, i parked it and let it sit and when i got in the shifter was loose and i could just roll it around in a cirlcle and no gears were locked in. i'm used to working on honda's and i don't wanna exspect somthing similar from a honda going wrong and trying to fix that so help please?
