Fallout 3: Where is IAN!?

Okay, before anyone says, "You go to the station, talk to the ghouls, then go to the radioactive thing and find the family"... I've already did that. I am where the family is and know he is "upstairs", but the terminal is locked, the washroom is locked, and the room you can go into (some sort of bedroom I guess) doesn't have Ian in it!!! Please help!! THANKS A LOT!!!
