I have 2 pc both with windows 2000, but one has a cd writer, how can I connect them together so I can network?

both my computers run windows 2000, but the main one is conected to the net with dsl, the other one is not on the net but has more memory and a cd burner, can I connect them tru the phone jack on both or do I have to use a special cable so I can us both and tranfer files and use one printer for both
