Do you believe Otto Reich, t. Sec. of State for West. Hemisphere Affairs, gave the OK for the Honduras Coup?
Zelaya may have been a U.S. critic but for the reason you stated it's hard to imagine we would ist or endorse a right wing coup by the military. President Obama is in a unique situation of being able to facilitate peace efforts and negotiations in a half a dozen places around the world. Why throw away that political and diplomatic strength by overthrowing a left wing President in a developing country. It gains us no advantage in Honduras, we still have diplomatic and military relations with them. It gives us no business advantage, it isn't going to attract U.S.trade it will in fact do the opposite if the impression is the government is unstable. If the goal was to silence a U.S. critic then we screwed up by supporting a coup in the wrong country. The Honduran military has always been a strong political force in the country. One of their presidents opened his mouth once too often.
